My first commute to work and my first Tri-Week

I’m sat here feeling really chuffed for myself, this is my first TRI-Week, in that I have done Swimming,Cycling & Running, who would have thought that a year ago.

Running,

Last night I did a short 2mile run but walked the first part as It was uphill so used that as my warm up.  As I knew I was only going to be running this short distance I pushed myself a little harder and recorded my fastest 1mile (11:49) I was super please with myself but pretty knackered and had to walk after the first mile to get my breath back.   Admitting to the world that I will not be doing the 10k has relieved me of any distance related stress and I can now feel free to put in some shorter distances and enjoy it again.

Cycling

It was my first commute into work today on my bike, all went well apart from being very cold (-2).  There was frost on the cars and there was frost on the roofs but I didn’t change my mind but instead got myself wrapped up in several layers.  I thought it would be a walk in the park but it was actually quite tough.  It was fun riding past all the stationary cars, however I have come to see that cars have no respect for bikes on the road and several times  I had to stop because they came into the cycle lane.

All I have to do is get home now, which is a much harder route but on the positive side it will be warmer and I will be able to wear less gear.

The total distance in was 6.1miles and did that in just over 32min, the same as my car commute.   I’m hoping that when I get fitter I will be able to do this in about 25min.

So all in all a positive morning for me and something I would never been able to do with first of all loosing those pounds and getting through running.

Swimming,

After my first swim on Monday Im still feeling it in my shoulders which just goes to show that I did some good.  At this first swim session I did 15 lengths without stopping.  So my plan next week is to warm up a bit then do 20 lengths.   This will take quite a while to build but I am enjoy the feeling I have in my arms and hoping it will start to tone the upper parts of my body and start to reduce my love handles.

That about it for now thanks for reading.
